Being "Uncomfortably Comfortable" or Living Out of a Van in California to Skateboard
For too long, Myriah Marquez was held back by forces beyond her control. That was until she co-founded skate sisterhood GRLSWIRL.
Marquez’ childhood was spent in and out of hospital dealing with a debilitating bowel condition and upon turning 18, she hit the road in search of life experiences.
Eight years later, she found herself fleeing a life in Seattle with nothing but her four wheels, landing in Venice California.
Now, thanks to international viral sensation GRLSWIRL, an empowering community of girl skaters, she lives out of her self-made all mod-cons van, having recently returned from her first trip abroad.
What’s more, since meeting writer/producer Neil Cohen of Store Road Productions, she’s been awarded Best First-Time Director by The Venice Fine Arts Film Festival and "Best Skate Short” at the Paris Surf & Skateboard Film Festival for “The Diary of Being Uncomfortably Comfortable” - our latest Free of the Week.
Edit: ‘Free of the Week’ is now ‘Short of the Week’.
